British Embassy Tashkent offers new on-line visa serivce from 13 October 2008 (09/10/2008)

The British Embassy is pleased to announce the introduction of a new service for travellers who require a visa to enter the United Kingdom - www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk offers a service where customers can apply for their visa online.

Visa4UK has so far been introduced in almost 80 countries across the world including Russia, Azerbaijan, Belorussia, Kazakhstan and the Ukraine.

On Monday 13 October, the British Embassy in Uzbekistan will launch the new system of online visa applications for all categories of UK visas.

The online service is a better and more efficient service because:

• Customers will be guided through the application process, which means that they cannot inadvertently miss out questions;
• The data is sent electronically and securely to the Embassy;
• Customers can then make an appointment to visit the Embassy to submit their passport, photo, fee and biometrics, at a time that suits them;
• This means no more telephoning for appointments;
• Customers will be sent automatic emails telling them when their visa has been printed, which means that they will know that their passport is on its way back and will be delivered by TNT courier.

The first appointments will be available from Monday 3 November. Appointments already arranged for October will use the existing hand-written method of submission.

From 3 November all visa applications and appointments must be made online. The Embassy will no longer accept hand-written applications.

Further information is available on the Embassy’s website: www.UKinUzbekistan.fco.gov.uk
