The British Council in Uzbekistan
The British Council is the UK's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations and is represented in 110 countries. It is registered as a charity, and operates at arm’s length from the UK Government.
The purposes of the British Council are:
- to promote a wider knowledge of the United Kingdom abroad;
- to promote the knowledge of the English language;
- to develop closer cultural relations between the United Kingdom and other countries.
Cultural relations are, therefore, at the heart of the British Council’s work, and it aims to build mutually beneficial relationships through visits, student exchange programmes, exams, library services and arts and cultural events. This work has a special focus on youth.
The British Council office in Uzbekistan supports educational reform, offers services to teachers and students of English, facilitates internationally recognised language examinations such as IELTS and promotes creative partnerships between British and Uzbek artists. The office has an excellent resource centre, and can provide access to information, ideas and expertise from the UK and around the world.
So whether you want to take a UK exam, study in the UK, build creative cultural links with the UK or discover the latest ideas from the UK this is the place to start!
